WHO ARE WE?

Shepparton Animal Rescue & Rehoming, better known as SARR, is a registered, foster based animal rescue located in Shepparton, Victoria. We are a small rescue with a very big commitment to the animals who come through our doors.

Unlike a traditional shelter, SARR operates through a network of dedicated foster carers who open their homes to animals in need. This means our animals get to live as part of a family while they wait for one of their own.

Our work extends well beyond Shepparton. We work with pounds, councils and other organisations to help animals from both Victoria and interstate when we have the capacity and resources to do so.

Every animal that enters SARR receives the care they need as an individual. That might be routine veterinary care and a warm bed, or it might mean weeks or months of medical treatment, rehabilitation, training and learning how to trust again.

We are proudly community supported and rely on our foster carers, volunteers, adopters, supporters, local businesses and donors to make our work possible. SARR is not about how many animals we can move through rescue. It's about doing right by every animal we say yes to. From the moment they enter our care until the moment they head home, they are part of SARR.

WHY WE EXIST

Shepparton Animal Rescue and Rehoming exists because we believe every animal deserves the chance to be safe, loved and given a future. We are a foster based rescue working to help animals who find themselves homeless, surrendered or in pounds with nowhere else to go.

Many of the animals who come into our care simply need someone to give them that chance. We work alongside pounds, councils, other rescue organisations, foster carers and our community to help create positive outcomes for animals in need.

For us, rescue is about more than getting an animal out of a pound. It is about giving them everything they need once they are safe. That means veterinary care, good food, rehabilitation, training when needed, a safe foster home and, most importantly, the time to find the right family.

We don't believe in moving animals on as quickly as possible. We believe in finding homes that are prepared to make a commitment for life. Some animals stay with us for days. Others stay for months. Some require extensive medical care, rehabilitation or palliative support.

However long they need us, they have a place with SARR. Because behind every animal we save is a life that mattered before we met them, matters while they are with us, and will continue to matter long after they leave our care.
